I woke up in annoyance due to the alarm constantly ringing loudly right in my ears. I found my mother looking distraught and her sweaty face indicated that she, surprisingly enough, hadn't taken a bath yet. "The society manager put up a notice that the water is unavailable today. The filter isn't working, apparently," she declared, wiping her forehead. I was flabbergasted. How was I going to live through such a hot day, that too, without water?
"Oh, and there are no left-over water bottles, currently," my mother said, as I started panicking. I slept off in order to kill my discomfort. My mother served me some bread for lunch. "I want proper food!" I complained, but I realized that food requires water to be made. It was three in the afternoon. I was sweating hard and wished for some water.
I studied till five in the evening and decided to doze off again. I woke up at six in the evening with such a horrible thirst that I felt like collapsing so my mother fed me plain soda so that I wouldn't pass out.
There were still four more hours till my bedtime. I recollected every time I had refused a bottle of water, let water drip from the tap, or preferred a flavored drink over it.
I was unhygienic and dirty since I hadn’t taken a bath. Reading a book while listening to music soothed me mentally. The next morning, the first thing I did was consume half a litre of water at one time as a sign of gratitude.
H2O, Water, The Elixir… it’s definitely something one cannot live without!
